Moment of Change

Every day, it is part of my household chores to switch on the motor pump of the borewell and fill the water tank. I usually keep a tap on the timeline to avoid any spillover.

However, around forenoon, while the water tank was getting filled, I soaked in the sunshine; the warmth of the sun was so welcoming after days of fog and long, cold nights, that I completely lost track of time

Lost in my world, the water overflowed for quite some time, creating small water pools on the terrace.

A bit frustrated with the spillover, I ran to switch off the motor pump.

When I turned around, I saw some unexpected guests quenching their thirst at the water collection.

The sight was so rewarding that I forgot what I came for!

This view made me ponder about our dependency on each other, and I told myself, “one man’s error is another’s provision”, as universal beings, we are all dependent on one another.

Simple moments are profound, and that day, something inside me shifted.

Warmly,

Mehnaz Amjad.
