How I surrender to what I can’t change

My relationship with surrender goes back to those difficult years of my life when I was torn between my dream to establish a business, and as a caregiver to my father who got very sick.

Amidst the emotional roller coaster ride, there came several instances of me trying to control the outcome and finding it very difficult to detach from the results, as a result, I ended up being more worried, more confused, and more stressed than I ever was.

There was no sign of any physical pain, but a rigid vicious circle I was caught inside, struggling every single day, from the trivial issues to some major decisions, everything felt like a drag, then came two disconnected years of pandemic, further pushing everyone to an era of disconnection, a time where one hesitated to even hug our own parent- the very reason of our existence!

Then, on a sunny day at the early start of Jan 2021, is when I summed up courage and decided to practice surrender, it was not easy, I was about to disturb the rigid tapestry of neurons wired since years, habituated to always control the uncontrollable.

I was met with resistance, but I did not give up!

To make it more manageable,

I initially surrendered to my stress and anxious thoughts, then to the way my life unfolded or was unfolding, to the million “should’s”, and “must’s” lists that held me back, the incorrect assumptions, the limiting beliefs the countless unrealistic hopes and fears I held.

3 years and counting…

with daily work , not missing out on a single day, I continue to surrender, liberating myself each day from all those toxic thoughts and experiences, indoctrinated since childhood, replacing them with my authentic self and positivity.

Surrender is not the best way to live; it is the only way to live. Nothing else works!

Rick Warren

To surrender is not a one-time job, but an ongoing work.
in my case, the work is in progress,

How about you?
What’s your relationship with surrender, and what does it mean to you?

Try an answer this to yourself, and if you find yourself in need of support, remember I’m just a click away.

I wish more power to you and the dignified courage, through which you have been dealing with difficulties in life and making your own humble efforts to surrender.
Thank you my friend.
