As soon as I heard this sound, I was reminded of the countless times I had soaked it in on different occasions, each adding a new meaning to it.
I would also often hear it in the movies and dramas, where a suspense-filled scene was about to unfold.
And it registered in my neural pathways, as Sound of the Night.
I recorded this one night on my mobile way back in 2013. I did this because I wanted to save my childhood memory of it, along with the countless nostalgic moments I want to relive every time I hear it.
Here it is, the Sound of the Night.
This sound, which I captured decades ago, reminded me of how, as a kid, I always thought night had a sound, and this was it!
In awe and in wonder,
Every time I would hear it, it fills me with good and sometimes not-so-good memories; however,
I prefer savouring the nostalgia it brings, reconnecting me to times I reminisce, and my observant, curious self, which is mindful even to the Sound of the Night.
Or so I like to call it.
Thank you for taking this trip with me and listening to the sounds of the night.
Warmly,
Mehnaz Amjad.
