Meera on our first call, was very confused and also a bit hesitant to share what was bothering her.
While it is not common to not fully disclose the issues that keep one awake at night, Meera and the conflicted state of mind she demonstrated concerned me.
I tried many ways to help her find a language to solve the problem, and then, towards the last ten minutes of our call, she said, ‘ I guess I’m not that Politically savvy.
and it is all because of it.
I asked ; what do you mean by being Politically savvy?
Meera remained hesitant to share but after a lot of coaxing divulged her state of plight.
She broke into tears as she narrated her side of story which was atypical of any corporate scenario.
While I understood the real cause of her story which something was entirely different from what she started with, I also realized her hesitance to utter “Office Politics” was due to a distorted version she held of the concept and its prevalence in her career, role and organization.
At times when we struggle to articulate our problem, remember the issue lies more in our awareness than the real issue at hand.
Meera’s state of helplessness and deep pain as she tried hard to hold back her tears, moved me immensely as I recollect my own share of pain dealing with the same.
