When Shruti was offered the role at a Global level, she was very pleased with the opportunity coming her way and made no further delay in accepting the offer .

Everything was so quick that she hardly had any time to even breathe!

She found herself in the space of a role she had always envisioned for herself. 

The Global Role

Six months into it, it went well, and then the realities of the role started to unfold. We all have a certain vision for the kind of role, job or title we want for ourselves; these mainly stem from the early influences and experiences in our growing years that shape our perceptions and, thereby, our aspirations.

Shruti was no different , very heavily influenced by one of her distant cousins who was a leading global head in a different country, with whom she shared a close-knit childhood, she always felt that she was at par with her and would constantly compare her career trajectory to that of her.

Make a note, none of it was intentionally done by Shruti, but the subconscious mind of Shruti heavily influenced with a standard of her own making, with a constant evaluation happening in it.

So, when the global role was offered ,she took no time to accept it .

The global role for Shruti turns out to be a catalyst in her proxy war and constant comparison that she lived every day in her sub conscious mind with her distant cousin, who perhaps was totally oblivious to the whole thing.

Job Aspects.

While some job roles may come with glamorous titles, the ground reality of the same jobs/roles could be completely different.

With India being the biggest offshore market and the availability of highly skilled manpower, creating new titles and roles in the organization hierarchy is quite common by Indian counterparts of global organizations, and often, results in people like Shruti get trapped into such glamourous titles without a forethought.

While we may not like all aspects of our jobs, sometimes some jobs turn out to be totally misaligned with what we have perceived them to be.

& given such context

Just like Shruti, what many emerging leaders fail to understand is that there’s hardly any difference between our personal agendas and professional goals; they are just two sides of the same coin, which is “Your Self”.

During our two-month coaching assignment, “we just spent three consecutive weeks in a deep dive session, answering this simple question that carried depths of what was driving Shruti.” 

It turns out -her personal goals, she was able to articulate was only a partial match to the present Global Role, while the vital goal was a far-fetched reality! 

As soon as this surfaced up, it took us just a few days to chart a path forward because by now, Shruti had awareness of not only what had driven her to this role, but also of where she wanted to go.

Her awareness acted as a compass and clarity on the “why” of her personal goals guiding her to the future she was moving towards.
