When we delay decisions ,due to fear

Jimmy was afraid to take his aunt to the hospital

Jimmy’s aunt was 87 years old and weak, with no major ailments

His fear were results of his own thoughts and predictions, which in all likelihood may not be true.

He feared the doctor’s evaluation

He feared her mortality and vulnerability

He feared the diagnosis and the result it may throw up

He waited for the problems to get resolved on its own ,sought advice from an online doctor ,and consoled himself that considering her age, a conservative approach was the best remedy.

Finally a day came where he had to admit her in the hospital, stay with her as an attendant ,spend enormous amount on all the test and then she was discharged with a better health and recovery, but amidst this Jimmy ended up spending double the cost and lost some of his key business assignments due to his hospital stay and lack of a proper backup plan.

It is ironical but true when we are way too certain about an outcome and out of fear ,keep procrastinating it ,as if what we predict will happen exactly as predicted .

I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened. Worrying is like paying a debt you don’t owe. I have spent most of my life worrying about things that have never happened. Drag your thoughts away from your troubles… by the ears, by the heels, or any other way you can manage it.

Mark Twain
