Today let’s start with some questions for you.
- Are you confused with your present role at work?
- Are you in search of what’s next, yet not really been able to find or articulate what it is
- You feel you have hit a dead-end
- You are looking for a way out.
- You are unsure and uncertain
When I was not sure of anything.
After spending more than a decade, I came across a phase in my career where I found myself not sure of anything, it had nothing to do with the present role, nor was I in search of success, which was evading me, yet there was something amiss.
While I struggled with it, my supervisor, who never really appreciated me or my work, had a different term for me and my approach. He would make sure he never lost any opportunity to put me on the spot using anecdotes on greed.
These remarks would further dent my self-esteem, and in my struggle and pain, I would remain more concerned about finding safety than finding answer to the actual question that lingered on in my sub conscious mind.
(Make note: as an evolved human species, safety is our primal need, and therefore, we often stay stuck in our comfort zones, which is comforting and safe)
So, I, as an emotionally charged employee, remained stuck for years, missing out on milestones and several other opportunities due to the detour of finding safety in the place of the answer to the question, what is amiss?
