Work-Life Balance is a myth.

Once upon a time, I used to work more than 14 hours a day, including weekends.
I would be the first person to arrive at the office and the last to leave.
Some parts of my work include attending to clients from abroad and therefore would be available in the office at any odd hour to do so.

There were days when I would enter the office and only when I step out to head home, I would realize the day was damp and raining or was dry and humid.

I had no real sense of time and seasons, and was only fixated on my work, work and lot more work.

Then several years later, during one of my self-reflection practices where I learnt the hard way to live a content and fulfilling life like a human and not a machine, in one of the sessions I was overcome by deep regret as I realize how I have squandered my precious time on jobs and titles that I wouldn’t even be continuing several years later.

With a consistent self-reflection practice, I also came to learn, and it became clear to me that my intense focus on work was often a way to escape the personal challenges and grief I was facing.

I wanted an escape and found it in work, my personal space was tumultuous and difficult, and work provided a welcome distraction.

So,
Like me, if you also
—find yourself spread out thin all over in your work, trying hard to find that balance.
—despite efforts, find that you are not very productive
—purchasing, reading every possible app that can fetch you that miraculous time, yet running short of it.

Then, my friend, it’s time to get down to some learning and gain some perspective and eventually create your work/life balance.

To do so, click here.

Remember,

Work-life balance is a standard vision; it offers clarity about which side (Work vs Life) weighs more than the other at a given period.

That’s all.
In reality, each one of us has our own Work Life balance, constantly shifting and moving with time and phases of our lives.

So,
Do not exhaust yourself in search of a standard vision of attaining Work-life balance, which in reality does not exist; instead, let’s learn to find the why behind the imbalance to balance things out.
