Questions are powerful and as a Coach, I can’t agree enough on the power of questions which are an essential part of my work life and have played a pivotal role in assisting me find clarity in the most complex of situations.
Therefore,
Today ,
I would like to begin by asking you some questions, which you can answer in just “Yes” or a “No”
- Are you struggling to understand or navigate the complex relationships and hierarchies within the organization. (Yes / No)
- Are you feeling that your contributions are being overlooked or undervalued due to behind-the-scenes political maneuvering.(Yes / No)
- Are you experiencing obstacles or delays in promotions or opportunities because of office politics, despite your qualifications and performance.(Yes / No)
- Are you encountering subtle or overt gender biases that is affecting your ability to influence decisions or gain support from colleagues.(Yes / No)
- Are you facing interpersonal conflicts or tension with colleagues or supervisors that are influenced by underlying political agendas.(Yes / No)
- Are you struggling to build or maintain strong alliances and networks within the organization, which are crucial for career advancement.(Yes / No)
- Are you Dealing with toxic behaviors such as bullying, sabotage, or being undermine by others who use office politics to their advantage.(Yes / No)
- Are you finding it difficult to understand or fit into the organization’s culture, especially when unwritten rules and norms are governed by politics.(Yes / No)
- Are you wanting to increase your influence and effectiveness as a leader but recognizing that mastering office politics is essential to achieving this.(Yes / No)
If you have answered a “yes” more than four times to the set of nine questions above, it is highly likely that there’s an underlying issue at work that need support and resolution , and the reasons are clearly reflecting in the questions you have answered as a “yes”.
The questions you have answered as a “No” may not be an obvious immediate problem as compared to the one answered as a “yes” , however, since our Work is a complex interplay of lot of things including our “Self” , there is no such thing called a absolute yes or a no.
So, What’s Next?
